What is PCD?
The Pitch Circle Diameter (PCD) is the diameter of the circle which passes through the centre of all the studs, wheel bolts or wheel rim holes.
To measure the PCD of a wheel is very easy on a wheel with an even number if studs, ie 4 and 6 stud wheels. You simply measure from the centre of one stud to the centre of the opposite stud, or to be more accurate you can measure from the side of one stud to the same side on the opposite stud. 5 stud wheels are a little more difficult. Below is the two ways to measure a wheels PCD and a table listing some common sizes below.
Four or six Stud PCD:
The P.C.D. of any wheel or hub with an even number of holes can be measured from the inside of one hole directly across to the outside of the hole opposite.
Five Stud PCD:
To calculate the P.C.D. of a five stud wheel or hub, measure 'X' from the inside of one hole to the outside of the next hole and multiply by 1.7012. The table below is a reference guide for some common sizes.
